Monday Update

Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Lisa, Dustin, Grandparents, and Hayden’s doctor had a meeting to discuss Hayden’s folder Saturday evening. The meeting went well and the new parents are better informed on Hayden’s medical status.

Dr. Beady believes Hayden’s brain bleeding, or Intraventricular Hemorrhage (IVH) occurred in the womb and/or during labor. Lisa went into early labor because of a severe placental separation (Placenta Abruptio). Her amniotic sac was “bulging” outside of her cervix and her body was sent into abrupt labor. During the placenta separation, the blood flow to Hayden’s brain was shut off, so his body immediately sent a large amount of blood to his brain (to compensate for the lack of) and ruptured the vessels in his brain. It is not known yet how this could or will affect Hayden later in life, all we know is he is the cutest baby in the NICU, medically speaking =)

The doctors (and us) are hopeful that he will be able to begin breast milk and have his ET (Endotracheal tube) tube taken out next week and replaced with nasal respiratory support! This will be a trial run, of course, and if it doesn’t go as planned, there’s always the week after =)

Just remember, this is going to be a very long journey for Lisa, Dustin, and Hayden and they need and appreciate all of the prayers and support possible. Let’s all try to stay hopeful, optomistic, and realistic at the same time!! HOPRElistic, there’s my new word!

I will be adding new pics soon!!!

Love to all,

Aunt Krystal

P.S. Stay HOPRElistic
