News on our BIG BOY!!!

5-27-08

Hey everyone!! Guess what? Our little man is over 5 pounds!!! Wow! He is getting so much bigger and stronger!

We are hoping that Hayden will get his surgery early next week to reconnect his intestines. The sooner the better because he will have to recover in the NICU for 2 months AFTER the surgery and before they can put his shunt in. The fluid from the brain (through the shunt) will be drained into his stomach and Docs want to make sure his bowel is healed enough to handle it.

We are hoping he will be put back on nasal prongs after his surgery. The meningitis debris and seizures are the main reasons Hayden cannot breathe on his own-they give him serious Apnea. Please pray for these seizures to go away!! Once they go away, we hope he will be able to breathe on his own AND drink from a BOTTLE!!! PLUS-Lisa & Dustin will finally be able to hold him again!! These seizures have been and continue to be a major setback.

We are shooting for Hayden to come home in August!!! He will be 5 months old but 1 month gestational. He is doing well, but still having those darned seizures! Once the seizures stop, he will be taken off all of the sedatives and will hopefully be restored back to his energized little self!! We miss seeing his eyes and smiles =)

Keep praying for our little man, we all want him better!

Love,

Krystal

Prayer Works!

Hello guys, hope you are having a great Memorial weekend!

I have to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers; recently Hayden had 2 serious scares. Docs thought his Meningitis was possibly back, and he would probably have to have surgery on his heart.

Well guess what, he doesn’t have either. He has been 5 negative tests in a row (for the Meningitis)…docs believe there may just have been a small pocket of the infection in his brain that was punctured during a head tap.

The hole in his heart, that was “so big” he would “have to have immediate surgery” on, has miraculously gotten smaller. Explanation? There is only one: prayer! They don’t think he will have to have surgery now!

There are absolutely no medical explanations for these recent medical happenings and their “cures”…we are so tired of hearing “we don’t know” from the docs and nurses, so we believe prayer is the only reasonable explanation =) Thank you so much everyone for your prayers...Prayer DOES work.

MORE GOOD NEWS, Hayden weighs 4 LBS 15 OZ!!! Wow, can you believe he had gained almost 3 pounds in 2 months???

Also, when docs are POSITIVE the Meningitis is gone, surgeons will reconnect his intestines and he will no longer need his colostomy bag! Little by little he is getting closer to coming home! He is still currently having seizures, believed to be caused by the leftover meningitis debris in Hayden’s brain…hopefully they will stop when the debris goes away!

Now, pray for Hayden’s speedy recovery so Lisa and Dustin can bring him home!!!

Happy 2 Month Birthday!!!

Good evening everyone, hope you all are doing wonderful!

First off, we are happy to wish Hayden a TWO MONTH BIRTHDAY!!! He is getting to be such a big boy!! We are also happy to announce that Hayden is up to 4 lbs 8 oz!!! He is growing so much every day!

Now is a time when we really need everyone’s prayers!! Doctors have found bacteria, probably Meningitis again, in his spinal fluid (that was drained from his brain). Every head tap is tested for bacteria, and his latest test came back positive. We are hoping and praying that is was just a minor skin infection of some sort, and will hopefully find out tomorrow. As many of you know, he has had a rough and long battle with Meningitis thus far. He has also been having increased seizure activity.

Also, Hayden’s heart murmur (hole) has gotten bigger. A cardiologist is checking into it tomorrow. If it is determined that the hole will continue to grow, docs will do emergency heart surgery. Hayden is also struggling with apnea spells…docs think most of his complications are due to the effects of his Meningitis.

As many of you know, Hayden has been through so much in his little time on earth, and deserves to be happy & healthy, living at home…we all know he has earned it! Instead of being held and hugged by his parents, he is stuck in a lonesome incubator at a NICU. He really really needs your prayers and support right now!! Please take a few minutes out of your day to prayer for our little fighter!!!

Thanks so much! I will try to post info up tomorrow if we find anything out!!

Love,

Aunt Krystal

Updates on the World's Most Famous Little Man!

Good afternoon Hayden fans!! Our brave little (or should I say BIG) boy is doing great at Clear Lake Regional’s NICU.

Hayden is up to 4 LBS 1 OZ (double his birth weight) and 16.5 INCHES (2.5 in. longer birth length)!!! He is also receiving a little over 1 oz in formula!!! He is still on nasal prongs and CPAP…when he is able to breath completely on his own-Hayden will begin drinking from a bottle!!! It is important for him to start breathing completely on his own, so please pray for him to overcome this continuous obstacle!

He is still having seizures, and docs are treating them with increased dosages of Phenobarbital. This med is supposed to treat and cure his seizures (due to the Meningitis). Let’s hope and pray that these ugly seizures cease!

On an even greater note, Hayden has not needed a head tap in over a week!!! (He was previously receiving 3 or more a week due to the Hydrocephalus). Instead of the Hydrocephalus resulting from the brain bleeds and needing a shunt (like previously thought)---docs believe it may have been from the meningitis and there is a possibility that he will not need a shunt!!! THIS WOULD BE SOOOOOOO GREAT!!!!!!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue praying for our little miracle man…the sooner he is better, the sooner he can come home (maybe even in JULY)!!! Lisa and Dustin have been through so much and deserve to have their little boy home with them!

Prayer does work, so please keep it up!!

Thanks and love to all!!

Krys

P.s. We are about to begin planning Lisa’s shower (possibly the 2nd SAT. in July)…if you would like to come, and I don’t have your address-please send it to me via e-mail (KDLogan1@yahoo.com) so I can send you an invite!!

Lots of new info!

Hello everyone! Hope all is well and thanks for being so patient while my baby was born!!

A lot has happened since I have last blogged!!

Hayden’s ET tube was replaced with simple nasal prongs again, and he is doing great!! So great, in fact, that Dustin was able to hold him for the first time Wednesday!! What a wonderful gift!!

Also, Lisa and Dustin were able to bring clothes and put them on him!! Although the preemie clothes swallowed him, he looked as cute as ever!!!

Thursday was a big day for the Vorse family as Hayden was transported to Clear Lake Regional for an EEG of his brain!! The EEG was performed on Friday…and we are thrilled to report that he is not having seizures (like previously suspected) and brain activity was detected!!! The doctors are going to perform another EEG on Monday to make sure!

And now for the big news…HAYDEN’S MENINGITISD IS OFFICIALLY GONE!!! The final culture has returned negative!!! Thank God for the miracles he is working on our little man!!!

Also, thank all of you for your prayers, without them who knows where we’d all be!! Keep up the great work!!

P.s. Hayden has a new little cousin, Kaylee, born on May 4th…she can’t wait to meet her brave cousin!!! Can't you tell they are related???

Updates, updates, and more updates!

5/1/08

Hello Hayden fans!!

As many of you know, Hayden turned 6 weeks old on 5/2 and he is getting cuter and cuter every day (keep your daughters away from him, he will be a heartbreaker =)

Hayden is up to 3 lbs 11oz!!! He started formula again last night and is doing well on it (our little baby boy was hungry =) He has a new isolet (incubator) and was started on CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure) today!!! He is breathing on his own, but the ventilator will give him breaths if he needs it. If this goes well, they will try the nasal prongs again, yay!!!

The meningitis is diminishing, but we are all still praying for it to go away COMPLETELY!!!

Because I am being induced tomorrow, I may not be able to update you for a short while, but I am going to teach Lisa how to do it so she can!!

Thanks for staying updated with Hayden’s progress, the family appreciates it so much, as does Hayden!!

Love,

Krystal
