Hayden is in ICU

Hello everyone,

Hayden went into the hospital Tuesday, and had emergency shunt surgery in the middle of the night Tuesday. His shunt dysfunctioned (not draining properly), so he has a new pump and a new cathater (he had to be opened up on his head AND tummy).

He is still in the PICU because his heartbeat is irregular and his stomach isn't draining the brain fluid properly. We don't know if he needs another surgery today or not...just waiting on answers. He is a fighter, like always.

Lisa and our Mom have been troopers, sleepinging (hardly) in chairs in the ICU--never leaving Hayden's side.

Please pray for our little man, he really needs them right now.

Hat's Off To Krystal!

Hat's off to Krystal! She stayed focused and never had a nervous break down. You really are a amazing young lady. I personally want to thank all the family and friends who worked so hard before, during and after the event. I have never worked with a better group of people! Eveything ran so smooth. Thanks to the muscles too. William, Wayne, Jeremy, Eric, Cody, Dylan and so many more... Also to our auctioneer Cory who made the auction such a success and so much fun. I enjoyed meeting everyone and hope to stay in touch. You truly are Hayden's Angel's!!! What a great day.

We need to thank Krystal too!

That girl worked so hard on this, you would've thought the money was for her, lol! But she did an awesome job at organizing our meetings and keeping in touch and keeping up with all the thousand little details. Guess it's that teacher thing!

She really loves her sister and baby Hayden and we all were witness to just how much. All three of them inspired me and kept me going on this benefit. They are wonderful people and I'm glad to call them my family!

Brenda

Thanks to Everyone!

Thanks so much to everyone that donated their time, product, and money for Hayden's benefit! It was definitely a lot of fun, and a success! We raised money for Hayden's special needs trust that will definitely help purchase much needed medical equipment and so forth!

To the people and businesses that donated: Thank you so very much for your gracious donations! Without you all, we wouldn't have been able to raise the money for our sweet little Hayden!

To the people who came: Thank you so much for your support! We appreciate you coming out and spending your Sunday with us! We all hope you had fun and enjoyed the time spent at the Baby Hayden Benefit!

To our volunteers: You rock! We couldn't have done it without all of you! There are a couple of people I think that didn't take a break all day (because they wanted to keep working!!) Wow! We appreciate all of the hard work and dedication you all put into this--trust me, it did not go unnoticed! The cookers stayed out ALL NIGHT Saturday night AND cooked and served ALL DAY Sunday! What would we have done without all of you? Thanks so much for your generosity and compassion...and that great BBQ!!!

To Brenda and Starla: We would not have been able to have a benefit without the help from you two! You both played such important roles in this entire process, and I appreciate your mentoring and dedication so much! I don't know what I would have done without you!!

To Lisa and Hayden: You two are the best duo I have ever met! Te most dedicated Mother and most precious son! I can't think of a more deserving pair than the two of you! Hayden truly is a blessing, and Lisa a Godsend.

If I have missed anyone, thanks so much to you as well =)

Hayden's Scan Results

Hello everyone!

Hayden's appointment went well Tuesday. They took another scan of his brain and are still flabbergasted at Hayden's progress. They have absolutely NO medical explanation on how he is even alive. When Lisa asked how many cysts were still in his brain, the doctor commented that there were "over 100". Lisa compared the picture of his brain to a honey comb, with so many holes and black spots =(

Against all odds, some parts of Hayden's brain HAS grown back, but doctors are not sure it if is viable or not...only time will tell. All we know is that he is a resilient little fighter and an inspiration to us all!

That is why we so desperately need to be out there fighting for him and this benefit! I know we won't let him down!

Love you all!!!

P.S. The dart tournament is set!
*June 27 – 4:00 pm
*Corner Pocket Sports Bar - 5626 Red Bluff in Pasadena
*$20 Buy in
*Blind Draw
*1/2 of winnings and 1/2 drink sales donated to Hayden
*Open to the public

Here is the flyer Brenda created for us! Tell everyone you know to come--it will be a fun way to help raise money for Hayden's future!!!

For our NEW Members

Hello everyone! First off, I want to thank you for helping us secure Hayden's future!!! Your generousity and support means so much to our Hayden and our family!

Because it will take lots of work and will need all the help possible, Brenda made a forum to help keep track of Hayden's benefit. This is a GREAT and organized place (internet site) where we can keep track of everything, for example: food, venue, donations, etc. We can throw ideas around and keep them all organized! Here is the address:

http://s1.zetaboards.com/Hayden/index/

I know it's long but it's free. The only rule is to join using your REAL first name and last name. Since we all will know each other, it will be easier that way. So go look it over, tell us what you think!!! PLEASE feel free to go to the forum and post ideas, news, etc--that is why it is there!! EVERYONE is welcome!!

Once you register and log-in, you can bookmark the page and it should keep you logged in on your computer. (On AOL, click the little heart and click "add to TOOLBAR" then enter Hayden under the symbol and it will be in your toolbar across the top: Accessible with one-click)

The more people to become involved, the better! You never know who knows who till the word starts spreading!!!

Lots of News

Hello everyone!

Thanks to everyone who made the last meeting, we really appreciate your support!

Our next meeting will be on Saturday June 20 at 5:30 pm. I know how busy everyone is, but we REALLY need everyone to attend! The benefit is on July 19th and we still have A LOT of things to do!

I have been going to businesses and am finding that many people are not able to donate…I’m getting about 1 YES in every 10 NOs, so if everyone was out asking, we could really be getting more things for the auction! Like Starla said, treat your folder with your flyes in it like your “baby”—take it everywhere you go. If you run to get fast food, ask for a donation! If you go shopping for clothes, ask! It only takes a couple of minutes, but could really change Hayden’s life forever. Just ask for the manager, give him/her a flyer and ask if the company would be willing to donate for a good cause!

BIG NEWS!!! We finally got the TRUST account open, yay!! Lisa and I went to the lawyers and Shell Federal Credit Union and got it done!! The official name for the trust is: Hayden Vorse Trust (if anyone wants to write a check).

Brenda put a DONATE button on the blog so people can donate directly from the blog page!!!

A BIG thanks to Christina and Jackie and the volunteer group at Shell Federal Credit Union!!! They called Lisa and I today ad WANT TO HELP with the benefit!! Talk about great people! There are 20-25 people in the volunteer group and many of team want to help at the benefit! They have been passing out flyers in the community and generating interest and spreading the word! Wow, Hayden sure has some angels out there!

The dart tournament is set for June 27 (a couple Saturdays away)..we are still working out the details and will get back to you!!!

Thanks again to everyone that is helping to secure Hayden’s future…we couldn’t do it without you, every person counts!

Keep spreading the word and selling those raffle tickets

I LOVE Carrots!

Hayden's EEG

Hayden is getting an EEG to make sure the new shunt-like tubes are working.

He is doing well after surgery. Lisa did have to take him to the ER Friday because his head was swelling (where they had to drill holes in his skull for the tubes)...but they said swelling may not go down for a few months.

So...keep praying for our little man!

also, I was thinking about having the 3rd benefit meeting on the weekend of June 6th sometime...maybe Friday because Haylee's B-day party is Saturday.

I'll keep the forum updated, Thanks!!!

Surgery

He is swollen from surgery...but a trooper like always

Surgery went well...doctors places 4 shunt-like tubes in Hayden's head to try to redirect the flow of fluid from his brain. Obviously, the last shunt revisions were not working so they are trying something new. The bandages have not been removed yet, but Lisa seems to think that the tubes are larger than the shunt catheter…poor baby, can’t ever catch a break.

They may let them come home today, depending on how well he is eating and how well the new system is working…and if there is no infection, God forbid.

Thank you so much for your prayers and thoughts…maybe one day we can just pray for him to have a good day- instead of praying that he recovers from surgery month after month. One day.

Love to everyone, and thanks again!

He is in Surgery

Hayden is in surgery right now...he was wheeled in about 2:30. Not only was his shunt "over-shunting", the past week or so...it became blocked last night and his head swelled. Lisa sure knows her son; she knew right away that there was an additional problem to the "overshunting".

They are trying something else other than the last shunt revision techniques...apparently it didn't work the last few times...They are putting 3 tubes in instead. Since his initial shunt surgery, Hayden has needed a shunt revision very 3 months- like clockwork …

Please pray for Hayden, Lisa, and our family…everyone sure needs it right now.

Thank you so much everyone.

Love,

Krys

Hayden Needs Surgery

Hello everyone.

Lisa has taken Hayden to TX Children's twice in the last 2 days, and just got a call that said he needs another (the 5th) shunt surgery.

Poor Lisa is beside herself as you can imagine. Please pray for a successful surgery and a quick recovery. Please pray for them both, as this may be one of those 9 day stays again...but we definitely hope not...we were really hoping that he was done with all of these surgeries.

I will keep you updated with the info as I get it.

Thanks

Hayden

Hello Hayden fans =)

As most everyone knows, Hayden's surgery went well! Even better than expected, for once!! Lisa and our Mom were there for him throughout his surgery and recovery over the weekend. Way to go Hayden!

Lisa is, however, taking Hayden in this morning because he has been acting a little strange lately, (fever, irritable, refusing to eat)...all the signs that his brain cysts are growing or a shunt malfunction. BUT, let’s hope not! Maybe he is just constipated or something???

Preparations for the benefit are going well, thanks to everyone involved! For those selling raffle tickets, let’s try to get those things sold are turned in so we know if we need to print more or not!! =)

Thanks again, and please take a moment to say a little prayer for Hayden and Lisa…we all HOPE it is not one of those 9 day stays at TX Children’s again!!!

P.s…Lisa finally got to have Hayden home for Mother’s Day!! And we all know, Lisa is the world’s best Mommy!

Hayden is having surgery

Hello everyone!!!

1st things 1st…Hayden is having surgery this Friday! He is being circumcised, and even though this surgery is usually no big deal—we all know Hayden’s past and his vulnerability to infection! Lisa and Hayden will stay at TX Children’s (their home away from home) for AT LEAST 3 days. If you have some time this weekend, maybe you could try to visit them for a little while? I don’t know HOW she sits up there all day for 3 days (with little sleep) all by herself…it gets really lonely on Sunday afternoon when you’ve been there all weekend alone.

Please continue to pray for little (or should I say, “BIG boy”) Hayden, and add in a few extra words about his surgery. We all know how his immune system is down, and even the slightest little cold could postpone his circumcision…this surgery is the rescheduled one. His first surgery was postponed due to a cold.

Okay, onto meeting news…the 1st meeting went GREAT…thanks so much to everyone that came to support Lisa, Hayden, and this great cause! For those who could not make it, we look forward to seeing you at the next one (May 2)!!!

Please go check out the BENEFIT forum to get updates about the planning process!!! It you type in: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Hayden/topic/1503282/1/
it should go straight there (IF you stay logged in).

Thanks so much, and keep on the lookout for updates!!!

Also, Hayden has 2 Dr. appts Wednesday…one for his eyes (A 3-5 hour process) and he is getting fitted for his helmet!!! He also has an appt on Thurs and surgery Friday…what a busy schedule!!! He sure is our little fighter!

1st Benefit Meeting

Hello everyone...now that the date (July 18th) and venue (Jimmy Burke Activity Center in Deer Park…500 West 13th Street) has been set up...it is time to have our 1st official meeting!

It is going to be at my house (10111 Belfast in LaPorte) THIS Saturday (April 11) at 4:00. It will be a very important meeting, and anyone who wants to be involved with the benefit is encouraged to come...especially those wanting to accept a "chairman" position =)

We need a chairperson for Activities, one for auctions and one for food. These CP's need to know what they are getting into and be ready to take on the responsibility of it. That means overseeing the volunteers and making sure they do their jobs. Organizing things before at the event. Posting things on the forum such as progress and questions. Clearing things with head chairperson, etc.

It sounds like a lot, but the more helpers we have, the less stress on everyone =) PLUS…we get to hang out together and play with Hayden!!!

There will be committee sign-up sheets (ie Food) and subcommittee sign-ups (ie Bake Sale).

It will be a very organized meeting and we hope to accomplish a lot! Also, there will be chips-n-dip and cookies, MMMMMMMMM =)

Thanks so much everyone...time to get thing rollin!!! The more help the better, and it will greatly appreciated...even the "smallest" support will help...little things add up!

Let’s remember why we are having a benefit in the first place, Mr. Hayden!!!

Please go to the forum and reply to the TOPIC so I can see who is hoping to come...anyone and everyone welcome! (http://s1.zetaboards.com/Hayden/topic/1466192/1/#new) If you are logged into the forum, this address will go straight there!

Saturday, April 4, 2009

Hello everyone...I'm so glad to see friends and family joining Hayden's benefit forum!!! Thank you so much, all of your input has been very helpful and valued while planning!

Hayden's Benefit

Hello everyone! First off, I want to thank everyone SO MUCH for coming to Hayden’s 1st birthday party…I think we can all agree it was the largest (as in people) b-day party ever =) Thank y’all so much, Hayden truly is loved and you guys are so appreciated!

I know that some people have been throwing the idea around of throwing Hayden a benefit. Brenda and I have been discussing it, and think it would be great to do this summer (June or July?) Because it is such a large task guess we should start somewhere. I am in the works to get the DPFD Rec hall (where Lisa and D got married).

Brenda is going to have some business cards made up for it. The only rule is to join using your REAL first name and last name. Since we all will know each other, it will be easier that way. So go look it over, tell us what you think!!!

I am going to research the “correct way” to ask for donations (from Wal-Mart, private businesses, etc) and will post it in the forum…we definitely do not want businesses “hit up” more than once! It could be GREAT publicity for companies, and hey-we are all doing this for a GREAT cause: Mr. Hayden’s future!

Hope to see everyone register with the forum and begin posting ideas…maybe we can have a meeting sometime in the near future:

1. To see who is all “on board” =)

2. To all be on the same starting point/page

Thank y’all so much! Can’t wait to get this thing started…wouldn’t it be so nice if we could help secure Hayden’s financial future to ensure he will have all of the things he is going to need? This would be one less stress on Lisa’s plate, and we ALL know she could use less stress =) She's is truly an inspiration to us all, and so is her BEAUTIFUL miracle "BIG boy"!!

And hey…who is gonna pass up a fun day with great food?

Love you guys...hope to see you on the forum!!!

Krystal

Hayden is Home

Wednesday, we took Mr. Hayden to TX Children ER because he showed all the signs of a shunt malfunction (the same signs that caused him to need all 3 shunt revision surgeries before)...sleepiness, vomiting, fever, refusing to eat, etc. Poor Lisa was so nervous that he needed to have yet another surgery to fix his shunt and that he would miss his 1st B-Day party =(

After all of the tests, scans, and X-rays...and waiting for the results all day...docs finally told us that he was just severely dehydrated (from the vomiting/refusal to eat)...NOT that this was great news, but it was better news than surgery! Lisa and Hayden stayed overnight so that he could be observed and get the fluids he needed, and came home this afternoon!

He is looking cute as ever (duh) and ready for his BIRTHDAY PARTY Saturday!! Hope to see everyone there!

Love yall!!

Hayden's B-Day!

Hey everyone!

Hayden's 1st Birthday and party are coming up on March 21st! Can you believe he will be a year old already??? The party will be at my house at 2:00!

We are so thankful and blessed to have Hayden on this earth, after everything he has been through. He is definitely our litle fighter man!

If anyone is wondering, Hayden needs toys that light up and sing, diapers size 3-5, sleepers 9-12 mo., soft or classical CDs, and wears 6-9 mo. pants. I think he needs some socks, too =)

Thanks everyone, hope to see ya here Saturday!

Update on Hayden's Surgery

Hello everyone!

Mr. Hayden's surgery went well Friday. Thankfully, he did not need an additional shunt! The catheter on his current shunt was not draining properly, so doctors removed it and replaced it with a new one.

Because of seizure activity, doctors needed to observe Hayden for a few days in the pediatric ICU (PICU) at TX Childrens. He has been doing alot better and finally was allowed to eat!!!! HOPEFULLY, Mommy and Hayden will get to come home tomorrow (Monday)!!

Thanks to the loved ones who have been there with Lisa and Hayden at the hospital, and the many well-wishers from home! A special thank-you to Aunt Lara, who rarely left their side for 2 days!!! It is amazing how strong a family becomes in times of worry and desperation. We have THE BEST family, ever!!

I WANT TO GIVE A BIG THANK-YOU TO EVERYONE THAT HELPED MOVE LISA AND HAYDEN!!! Lisa was approved for a 2-bedroom apartment recently. She was SO excited that Hayden will have his OWN room, and she was going to get to begin moving in this weekend. When Hayden needed surgery, Lisa, of course, put moving on the back burner.

Our cousin, Latisha (Tisha, Ditta, whichever name you call her =) began the process Saturday by spending ALL DAY AND NIGHT packing, wrapping, and cleaning (dishes, clothes, etc). She also went shopping for Lisa and Hayden groceries and other miscellaneous items that would make Lisa and Hayden feel right at home (when they get home).

The other big helpers, who moved everything from one apartment to another, were Sara, Tisha, Marshal, Brenda, Bryan, Jessica C., Frank, and Jeremy! Don't know WHAT we would have done without y'all! What wonderful and selfless people you all are!!! Thank you so so so much!!!

It was a long a tiring day, but the look on Lisa's face when she sees her new home is sooo worth it! She doesn't know exactly what we did...she just thinks we moved a couple of things! How exciting it will be to see her face when she is surprised!

Out of all the people in the world, no one deserves this more than Lisa and Hayden! (We just hope they don't move again for a long, long time =) ha ha ha

Thanks to everyone!!! Love you all!! Please pray for Lisa and Hayden's safe trip home tomorrow, Hayden''s first night to sleep in his own home since Wednesday and Lisa's 1st night to sleep in a bed since Wednesday (in their new apartment, I might add!!)

Hayden is having surgery

Hi everyone! It has been a long time since we have blogged, but that is because everything has been going so great.

Hayden developed a soft lump on the back of his head. Lisa and our wonderful Aunt Lara took Hayden to Tx Childrens to have him examined. (Grandma would have gone, but she broke her toe and is in a boot).

Unfortunately, Lisa was told that he needed a cat scan to determine what the problem was. Tomorrow, he will having an endoscopy (camera going inside his head) to get a closer look.

Doctors think that his cyst (the large one inside of his brain) has swelled and is causing the lump. They said that Hayden may need an additional shunt to drain the fluid.

We are not sure of much; all we know is that Hayden will be having surgery on his brain tomorrow.

Lisa and Hayden are staying at TX Childrens until this is all over and he is all better! They said they will be there at least a few days (I'm assuming if he doesn't need the shunt)

We all know the pain, stess, and emotional roller coaster Lisa has been through this past year...not to mention what poor little Hayden is going through. We want to thank everyone that has supported them and loved them any way possible. You have NO IDEA how much that means to Lisa and the family.

Lisa and Hayden got approved for their new apartment and are supposed to move in next weekend (Feb. 13). We are not sure if they will be home or not, but I would LOVE to move their things in for them!!! Moving is another added stress I don't want Lisa to have to deal with right now. PLUS, how awesome would it be to be able to bring Hayden home from the hospital to his new home already ready??? =)

I would appreciate SO VERY MUCH if anyone would be willing to help! She is only moving a few apartments down (in the same complex) to a 2 bedroom. PLEASE call or e-mail me if you are free and wanting to help...ANY help is appreciated!!!

Thanks so much for all of your support and love!!! I will keep everyone updated with Hayden's progress.

Please continue to pray for his successful surgery and speedy recovery!!!
