Update on Hayden's Surgery

Hello everyone!

Mr. Hayden's surgery went well Friday. Thankfully, he did not need an additional shunt! The catheter on his current shunt was not draining properly, so doctors removed it and replaced it with a new one.

Because of seizure activity, doctors needed to observe Hayden for a few days in the pediatric ICU (PICU) at TX Childrens. He has been doing alot better and finally was allowed to eat!!!! HOPEFULLY, Mommy and Hayden will get to come home tomorrow (Monday)!!

Thanks to the loved ones who have been there with Lisa and Hayden at the hospital, and the many well-wishers from home! A special thank-you to Aunt Lara, who rarely left their side for 2 days!!! It is amazing how strong a family becomes in times of worry and desperation. We have THE BEST family, ever!!

I WANT TO GIVE A BIG THANK-YOU TO EVERYONE THAT HELPED MOVE LISA AND HAYDEN!!! Lisa was approved for a 2-bedroom apartment recently. She was SO excited that Hayden will have his OWN room, and she was going to get to begin moving in this weekend. When Hayden needed surgery, Lisa, of course, put moving on the back burner.

Our cousin, Latisha (Tisha, Ditta, whichever name you call her =) began the process Saturday by spending ALL DAY AND NIGHT packing, wrapping, and cleaning (dishes, clothes, etc). She also went shopping for Lisa and Hayden groceries and other miscellaneous items that would make Lisa and Hayden feel right at home (when they get home).

The other big helpers, who moved everything from one apartment to another, were Sara, Tisha, Marshal, Brenda, Bryan, Jessica C., Frank, and Jeremy! Don't know WHAT we would have done without y'all! What wonderful and selfless people you all are!!! Thank you so so so much!!!

It was a long a tiring day, but the look on Lisa's face when she sees her new home is sooo worth it! She doesn't know exactly what we did...she just thinks we moved a couple of things! How exciting it will be to see her face when she is surprised!

Out of all the people in the world, no one deserves this more than Lisa and Hayden! (We just hope they don't move again for a long, long time =) ha ha ha

Thanks to everyone!!! Love you all!! Please pray for Lisa and Hayden's safe trip home tomorrow, Hayden''s first night to sleep in his own home since Wednesday and Lisa's 1st night to sleep in a bed since Wednesday (in their new apartment, I might add!!)

Hayden is having surgery

Hi everyone! It has been a long time since we have blogged, but that is because everything has been going so great.

Hayden developed a soft lump on the back of his head. Lisa and our wonderful Aunt Lara took Hayden to Tx Childrens to have him examined. (Grandma would have gone, but she broke her toe and is in a boot).

Unfortunately, Lisa was told that he needed a cat scan to determine what the problem was. Tomorrow, he will having an endoscopy (camera going inside his head) to get a closer look.

Doctors think that his cyst (the large one inside of his brain) has swelled and is causing the lump. They said that Hayden may need an additional shunt to drain the fluid.

We are not sure of much; all we know is that Hayden will be having surgery on his brain tomorrow.

Lisa and Hayden are staying at TX Childrens until this is all over and he is all better! They said they will be there at least a few days (I'm assuming if he doesn't need the shunt)

We all know the pain, stess, and emotional roller coaster Lisa has been through this past year...not to mention what poor little Hayden is going through. We want to thank everyone that has supported them and loved them any way possible. You have NO IDEA how much that means to Lisa and the family.

Lisa and Hayden got approved for their new apartment and are supposed to move in next weekend (Feb. 13). We are not sure if they will be home or not, but I would LOVE to move their things in for them!!! Moving is another added stress I don't want Lisa to have to deal with right now. PLUS, how awesome would it be to be able to bring Hayden home from the hospital to his new home already ready??? =)

I would appreciate SO VERY MUCH if anyone would be willing to help! She is only moving a few apartments down (in the same complex) to a 2 bedroom. PLEASE call or e-mail me if you are free and wanting to help...ANY help is appreciated!!!

Thanks so much for all of your support and love!!! I will keep everyone updated with Hayden's progress.

Please continue to pray for his successful surgery and speedy recovery!!!
